The Norwegian state broadcaster NRK recently announced their plan to revamp their music section by dedicating their entire P13 station to music. In a comment with Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, Kristin Winsents (head of music at NRK P13) mentioned the BBC as a key inspiration in this work.
According to Norwegian DJ Olle Abstract, NRK has a long way to go before it will reach the level of the BBC. The British broadcaster is a place music lovers go to discover new music, alongside online radios, Spotify lists and international websites.
We will discuss the particular role of public broadcasters in promoting new music, and how to do it right.
