Ultima Festival and by:Larm are excited to present an exclusive cooperation between one of Norway’s most acclaimed artists of recent years and the renowned producer and artist Laurel Halo.

A freeform musician on piano, synthesizers, and electronics, Anja Lauvdal’s discography stretches back to 2013 and includes her participation in a myriad of ensembles and collaborations, including touring with Jenny Hval as well as playing on her records. She has also been a part of bands like Broen, Moskus, Skrap and Skadedyr.

Drawing from a range of stylistic influence, including Detroit techno, musique concrète, film score and jazz, Laurel Halo’s music employs a careful blend of pressure, decay and nuanced emotion to explore notions of transmission and impermanence. Since 2012 she has released a number of albums ranging in genre on labels like Hyperdub, Honest Jon’s and Latency.

Halo has performed in venues, festivals, clubs and institutions across the world, including the Southbank Centre, Sydney Opera House, The Kitchen, CTM/Transmediale, Sónar, and Montreux Jazz Festival, among others, and has collaborated with artists and designers including Moritz von Oswald, Metahaven, Perfume Genius, Kevin Beasley, Julia Holter, John Cale, and the London Contemporary Orchestra.

Anja Lauvdals traktering av piano, synth og elektronikk kan høres på plater med Jenny Hval, Broen, Moskus og Skadedyr. I tillegg har hun kuratert All Ears og lagd bestillingsverk for Kongsberg Jazzfestival. Den meget produktive og allsidige diskografien og merittlisten til Anja Lauvdal vitner om en norsk artist med en usedvanlig kunstnerisk teft og bredde.
