Ævestaden er en norsk-svensk trio som spiller nykomponert og tradisjonell musikk med både tradisjonelle og moderne instrumenter. Lyre, fele, munnharpe, langeleik, kantele, vokal og elektronikk harmoniserer sammen i et helt eget lydbilde. Tematisk handler låtene om liv og død, bevissthet og underbevissthet.

Trioen består av Eir Vatn Strøm, Levina Storåkern og Kenneth Lien – tre musikere som også er multiinstrumentalister. Variasjonene i instrumentasjon åpner opp et unikt lydbilde med tidløse harmonier og lag på lag med minimalistiske motiver – kombinert utgjør det en åpen og atmosfærisk verden.

Debutalbumet Ingen Mere Gråter kom i 2021, og det er mer musikk – og by:Larm-opptredener – i vente i 2022.

Ævestaden is a Norwegian-Swedish trio that plays newly composed and traditional music both with early and modern instruments. Lyres, fiddle, mouth harp, langeleiks, kantele, vocals and electronics harmonize together in an idiosyncratic soundscape. Thematically the songs are about the conscious and the subconscious – secular and sacred – about life and death.

The trio consists of Eir Vatn Strøm, Levina Storåkern and Kenneth Lien – three musicians who are all multi-instrumentalists. Their variations on instrumentation opens up a unique sound when timeless harmonies and layers of minimalistic motifs combine to create an open and atmospheric world. In the same way that they explore their instruments, they also challenge the listener’s expectations in terms of arrangement and form of their songs.

They released their debut album Ingen Mere Gråter in 2021, and there’s more music – and a by:Larm appearance – to come in 2022.
